Raymond Esquivel has worked for the Clark County Department of Aviation in several leadership positions since 2002 and now serves as Assistant Director of Aviation, Airside Operations. In this role, Esquivel is responsible for the safety and efficiency of Airport Operations, Airfield Maintenance, Airfield Escorts, Ramp Control, and the Airport Control Center.

Under Esquivel’s leadership, McCarran completed the reconstruction of its primary departing runway while maintaining the airfield operations necessary to support the more than 530,000 aircraft movements the airport sees annually. This $65 million capital improvement project successfully completed the airport’s transition to all-concrete runways.

Prior to joining the Department of Aviation team, Esquivel spent 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served as the Logistics Group Superintendent for the 57th Logistics Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. In this position he was a principle advisor to the commander on matters concerning morale, welfare, discipline, training, and the effective utilization of 1,700 military, civilian, and contractor personnel.

Esquivel earned an associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force, a bachelor’s degree from Peru State College in Nebraska and holds a professional accreditation from the American Association of Airport Executives.
